About a year and a few weeks ago I found out about this thing called the BABE Rally. Well…. I read on about it to find out that it was a 4-5 day trip from New York to New Orleans. I’m a heavy VW nut/Car guy so I immediatly wanted to do it. The catch with the whole rally is that it has to be done in a car you bought for 250 dollars or less. SO!!!! My first thought was water cooled VWs so I rush over to my friend Greg and ask if he wants to go. Word spreads around the work place and I get a few people interested. It first started out as a two car adventure. We waited for about eight monthes before we got our crap together. We got the final teams made, car found, and so forth.
What car are we driving? A 1971 VW Bus Westfalia/Camper. It’s awesome. We bought it from some guy that lived in a trailer park and had been using it for his daily driver up until a month before we bought it. The brakes sucked and needed to be pumped and majorly leaked, the rear passengers side had been hit, and there were shit loads of wires run every where. GHETTO.
That’s about where we are up until now.
